San Jose VTA Shooting Statement
SAN JOSE, CA, MAY 26, 2921—Today, eight people died in a mass shooting at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority light rail yard. As of May 26, there have been at least 232 mass shootings. March For Our Lives California is heartbroken by the news of yet another mass shooting. We cannot imagine the pain the victim’s families are going through as their circle has been injected by a senseless act of gun violence which could have been preventable. The actions we witnessed were reprehensible and thus serve as a reminder that we must strengthen gun violence prevention in order to prevent terror in communities.
We must demand change from our lawmakers to enact sensible gun laws. We honor the innocent lives lost and the lives they led. We pray for a safe recovery to those injured. March For Our Lives California stands in solidarity with the victims and their families. We cannot truly be safe until we are free from gun violence.
